- My mom instilled active respect for sustainability into me, being a farm girl from the depression era. When I was 7 or 8 years old I played jacks and I wanted to buy some. They had started about then packaging them in blister packs and Mom was like what do we need all this stupid plastic for and what happens to it when we throw it away? Packaging has only gotten exponentially more absurd since then and it's taken this long for any significant portion of the human herd to do much more than pay lip service to sustainability. The sooner it goes truly mainstream and people truly use sustainability as a purchasing criterion in the mass market, the faster things will change.
